Paros weather at a glance

Paros is in the Cyclades in the Aegean Sea. Summers are dry and warm, and most of the rain falls in winter. The wind is part of the picture: the Meltemi, a strong summer wind, is strongest and most frequent in July and August, especially in the Cyclades. There is no fixed start or end date for it, and it does not blow every day.

The monthly figures below are historical long-term averages for the neighboring island of Naxos, published by the Greek National Observatory of Athens. They give a good regional picture for Paros, but they are not measurements for every coast and hillside of Paros, and they are not a forecast. Check a current forecast a few days before you travel.

The Meltemi wind

An official environmental report describes the strongest and most frequent phase of the Meltemi in July and August, particularly in the Cyclades. A study from the National Observatory of Athens describes the winds easing in September, although that study covers an older period and is no promise of a calm September.

For your trip, this means two things. On a windy day, beaches that face the wind can be rough, and the municipality warns of rough sea at Pounta in the west. Faragas, for example, has rocks that act as a windbreak. See our Paros beaches guide for the details. For wind sports, the season is a plus: a kite school at Pounta lists April to October, and Golden Beach has a surf club for windsurfing lessons and equipment rental.

Which month suits you

There is no single best month. The right one depends on what you want to do.

April and May

Highs of 18.6 °C and 21.9 °C, with little rain in May (10 mm). A good fit for walks such as the Byzantine path from Lefkes to Prodromos, which is 3.5 km and about 45 minutes one way. See our Lefkes guide.

June to August

The dry, hot core of the season, with highs of 25.7 to 26.6 °C and 1 to 3 mm of rain. Beach days are the main plan, and the Meltemi is strongest in July and August.

September and October

Highs of 24.6 °C in September and 21.4 °C in October. Rain returns in October with 39 mm on average. Ferry and bus timetables start to change, as the October 2026 timetables show.

November to March

Highs of 14.3 to 18.6 °C and the most rain, with 47 to 71 mm a month. Seasonal timetables and opening hours change, so check before you travel. See where to stay for the lower winter climate levy.

Autumn weather and travel plans

Autumn can bring storms. In mid-October 2026 the authorities closed schools in the South Aegean for one day because of expected severe weather. If you travel in autumn or winter, keep your schedule flexible, especially for ferry and boat days, and check the ferry timetable for your date.

Planning a day on the water or a trip to Antiparos? Choose a day with a settled forecast and have a backup plan for the cave, the museum or a village walk.

Reading the numbers

The nights are the clearest difference between seasons. In July and August the average low is 21.7 °C, while in January and February it is 9.3 °C. Rain drops quickly in spring: 50 mm in March, 18 mm in April and 10 mm in May. It returns in autumn, with 6 mm in September, 39 mm in October and 47 mm in November.

The table is a guide to the pattern, not to a single day. Combine it with a forecast and with the timetables for ferries, buses and tours. For the sights that suit each kind of weather, see things to do in Paros, and for the villages, our guides to Naoussa and Parikia.
